Visualising the J2EE Management Model

Visualising the J2EE Management Model

Applet demonstration of the technology's ability to visualise the J2EE Management Model, using a set of pre-defined graphical models.

J2EE Model Browser Applet Demonstration

Online demonstration of the technology's ability to generate a graphical model through a simulated Management EJB dialogue.

J2EE Model Browser Application Download

Download the application to create interactive graphical models of your own application deployment archives.

Technology Demonstration

Both the demonstration applets found on this site and the downloadable application require J2SE version 1.4.2 or later and Java3D™ version 1.3.1.

The first and simplest form of demonstration is intended to illustrate the interactive visualisation concepts promoted by the technology. Using a set of pre-defined static models, the demonstration applets illustrate the interactive nature of the graphical models, the automation of scene navigation and the inter-working of the 3D scene with more traditional 2D representations of the information model.

To demonstrate the ability to generate a graphical model in real-time through a dialogue with a server-side Management EJB (MEJB) the technology has been packaged into an application, J2EE Model Browser, which can either be sampled online as an applet or downloaded and run as an application.

The J2EE Model Browser, in both application and applet forms, includes a component to simulate the behaviour of a MEJB, this component enables the application to run as a standalone application for demonstration purposes. Whether the application communicates with a server-side MEJB or the local MEJB component, it limits itself in both cases to generating the graphical model based on an MEJB dialogue conforming to the JSR-77 Management API.

A sample Test Suite is included with the J2EE Model Browser, consisting of range of test models of varying complexity. Each test model represents an Enterprise Archive containing one or more J2EE Applications, which contain one or more J2EE Modules.

The J2EE Model Browser is over 2 MB in size.
